Do you love seeing all of our wonderful lingerie posts on Facebook? How about our blog posts or videos with Angie? Haven't seen these posts at all? Check out our Ladies Only Boudoir Group or our Men Only Man Cave. We love interacting with all of our followers on social media. Our team works hard to make sure that everyone is updated on new items and services we offer. We love seeing that all of you “like” or “love” our new stuff, as well as all of your wonderful comments. However, you might be seeing less of us in the next few months. Not because we’re going to post less or because we’re going in a new direction. We’re not changing, Facebook is.
On January 11th Mark Zuckerberg announced that big changes are being made to the Facebook algorithm. Lately he’s been under pressure from our government, as they seem to think Facebook had a big impact on recent elections. Users have also been complaining for some time about fake news in their feed. Furthermore, there have also been studies conducted over the long-term effects of “passively reading through articles,” turns out the results don’t seem pleasing. In his announcement of the changes, Zuckerberg stated that he felt it was his responsibility to ensure our time on Facebook is well spent. He plans to change Facebook's direction in hopes that we’ll see less fake news and more of what “we want.” This means that we’ll be seeing less posts from businesses and less posts from friends. There will still be public posts appearing in your feed like our lovely Coquette Rose Bustier, but only ones that contain meaningful content and discussion. Zuckerberg did state that he expects these changes will decrease time spent on Facebook, but he hopes that time spent on Facebook will be more valuable.
How Does This Affect You?
You know those adorable puppy videos in your feed? Or the videos of people wrecking cars or falling through ice? Those will slowly start to disappear from your feed. Pictures of cake and coffee, Curvy Couture Tulip Bras, adorable panda posts will all start to get “demoted.” Instead of all of the “passive” posts you normally see, you’ll start to see “meaningful content” at the top of your feed. Posts with a lot of discussion. If you scroll long enough you might get to see a puppy, but only if the comments are meaningful. What will start to appear more will be public debates, long discussions or any post that the ‘Facebook gods’ deem worthy.
What Qualifies as Meaningful Content?
If you want your family and friends to see your posts, they need to get a lot of comments. However if you're thinking that your posts will be seen in other users’ feed simply because people comment on them, you’re mistaken. In order to qualify as meaningful users need to post more than one or two words. One thousand comments saying our new Coquette Botanical Babydoll is “cute”, isn’t meaningful to the 'Facebook gods'. The content of a post must encourage valuable discussion among users before it gets bumped up on the list feed. Which means getting users to comment, like, share, won’t help your posts get promoted anymore. Users need to be actively engaged in the post and it’s other comments before it is considered meaningful.
What Does This Mean For Us?
Simply it means that we’re going to try to start discussions on our posts. If we don’t, you won’t see them. Our gorgeous lingerie isn’t meaningful to Facebook unless users decide to discuss how gorgeous our new Fantasie Charlotte Bra is. We’re going to start encouraging our group members, and Facebook followers to discuss our products and blogs. However, I myself don’t get on Facebook to discuss anything. I’m quite the introvert and “meaningful” discussions for me are either face-to-face, or written out in the form of these amazing blogs. If you don’t care to comment on every one of our posts or start a conversation with someone, I get it. There is another way to keep seeing our posts, without actually having to talk to people!
Prioritize us!
In order to make sure you keep seeing gorgeous lingerie in your feed, you can prioritize us! You can do this with other businesses, family, and friends as well. Make sure that your Facebook feed stays the way you want it. To keep seeing our posts even if they don't have a lot of discussion, follow these steps:
1.Go to our page
2. Click the info icon
3. Go to Notifications
4. Set it the way you want!
I have mine set on highlights, but you can also choose to set yours on all posts, or friends posts. I hope that you’ll keep us in your feed, we enjoy all of your likes and comments. They are all meaningful to us.
These changes are not going to be easy for businesses. If we don’t get prioritized or the comments we need, we’ll start to disappear from users feed altogether. Meaning users won't get to see our lovely Freya Soiree Bralette. This is true for our Facebook business page and our private groups. I expect that we’re all going to start to see more drama on Facebook, religious discussions and political debates. I can understand wanting users to be healthier and keep in touch with family, but that's why I call them. Not why I have Facebook. I get on Facebook to see cute puppies, read lingerie blogs, and see cute outfits. I don’t get on Facebook to interact with people. Angie feels the same way saying that the only reason she gets on Facebook is to read all of your lovely comments, and see “puppies, panties and unicorns.” To say we’re excited about the change would be a lie. However, we are optimistic that this won’t be the end of our Facebook discussions. We encourage everyone who wants to see our crazy posts to prioritize us, and comment on the posts and videos. All of your likes, and comments are meaningful to us, even if they are just one word!
